What Applicants Should Expect

The CASPA job fairs have a design that is very similar to many of the university job fairs. To maximize this experience for participants, we offer the following information

CASPA is the Colorado Association of School Personnel Administrators. Members are human resources directors and other administrators who are responsible for the hiring of teachers for their respective school districts. All major Colorado districts, and many of the smaller districts will be represented. Larger districts will have as many as 12 administrators to interview candidates for their school district. Districts from the Front Range, Western Slope, Eastern Colorado, and mountain areas will be present.

The doors of the job fair will be open at 7:30 am.

The most critical time of the job fair is from 8:00 – 10:00 am. During this time, representatives from all attending districts will be available in the high school gym to provide short (three to five minutes) screening interviews. Based on those interviews, a longer (30 minute) interview may be scheduled for later in the day. Expect lines at some of the larger districts.

The scheduled interviews will be conducted in classrooms of the high school. Maps will be posted to guide you to those rooms. We suggest bringing at least 20 copies of your resume for distribution.

This job fair is an opportunity to talk directly with hiring officials of Colorado school districts. Many of the recruiters will be principals and assistant principals. All licensed candidates, and those who are scheduled to student teach and complete their teacher education programs this spring (2009) are invited to attend.

Due to the nature of this job fair, the school districts will not be interviewing individuals seeking employment under Alternative Licensure or Teacher-In-Residence.

For specific information regarding individual districts, Colorado Department of Education’s Web site, www.cde.state.co.us has direct links to the school districts. Individual questions can be left on voice mail at (303) 387-0553. Your calls will be returned as quickly as possible.

Please do not call CASE for questions regarding the job fair.
