RE: Colorado 2016 Middle Level and High School Principals of the Year Award Program
The Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals (CASSP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) are seeking nominations for the 2016 Middle Level and High School Principals of the Year. The program is designed to recognize outstanding secondary principals whom you feel have demonstrated outstanding leadership and are considered to be strong leaders by their colleagues. The people you nominate do not have to be employees of your school or district, but must meet the award program’s eligibility criteria. Each nominee must be a current member of CASE/CASSP and NASSP; must have been a principal at one or more middle level or high schools (grades 6-12) for a minimum of three full years; must complete the online NASSP National Principal of the Year Award application; and must be a middle level or high school principal at the time of selection as a Colorado’s secondary Principal of the Year (April 1, 2016).
The successful candidates must be middle or high school principals throughout the year of their Colorado award terms (2016). For national finalists, these conditions must also be met at the time of the National Principal of the Year interviews and throughout the year of his or her national term (2017). Colorado will select and honor both a 2016 Middle Level Principal of the Year and a 2016 High School Principal of the Year. The 2016 Middle Level and High School Principals of the Year will compete to represent Colorado at the national level. The Colorado winner will represent our state in the national competition for 2017 NASSP Principal of the Year Award and will be invited to attend the September 2016 Principals Institute in Washington, DC.
