How do you encourage creative thinking within your organization?

Ask questions of everyone associated with the school and then LISTEN. I am amazed at the creativity of the students, the staff, and the parents when asked a question about an issue. Their unique perspective produces tremendous possibilities that I would not have otherwise considered.

What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should possess?
Every leader should possess a servant’s heart, being willing to serve the needs of the community, the parents, the staff, and the students. As the leader, I am the coordinating hub, meeting the needs of these important people at the right time and in the right way.

What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
New leaders do not take the time needed to formulate their leadership plan. Yet, without a well formulated plan, leadership has no direction. I encourage new leaders to create a leadership vision, lay out a strategic plan, and execute it. My leadership plan inspired exceptional achievement at Hinkley High School.
