When AYP results are released, the following tips can help the school board ensure positive and open communication with your constituents.
· Ensure that the board is clear on the key messages and facts about the AYP status of schools in your district. Every board member will be responding to individual questions from citizens or staff.
· Select one spokesperson to provide the board’s official perspective to the media. Using a single spokesperson helps to ensure that the facts and message are consistently portrayed.
· Communicate questions and concerns about AYP or school improvement issues to your superintendent.
Use the release of AYP results as an opportunity to keep your community informed about everything you are doing to raise student achievement and to help all students succeed.
