Brent Curtice, Superintendent, Garfield RE-2 and CASSA (Colorado Association of Superintendents) President

Brent has served in public education for over 30 years, spending the first 13 years as a classroom teacher and coach, and 20 years as an athletic director, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. In 2004, Brent was named the Colorado High School Principal of the Year for his outstanding leadership. Brent is the incoming superintendent in Garfield RE-2 and has been active in CASE leadership for several years. Brent holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

Bill de la Cruz, Director of Equity and Inclusion, Denver Public Schools

Bill has been involved in educational transformation since 1997, with experience as the past president of Boulder Valley School District Board of Education, as board member for the Colorado Association of School Boards, and as the current Director of Equity and Inclusion for Denver Public Schools. Bill has also co-chaired two Governor's commissions on studying the opportunity and achievement gap in Colorado, as well as co-authored the Equity Toolkit for Administrators used by the Colorado Department of Education. With expertise in facilitative leadership, culturally responsive relationship building and conflict resolution, Bill works to promote transformation and systemic change through relationships and intentional actions.

Becky McClure, Assistant Professor of Practice, University of Denver

Becky has over 34 years of public education experience serving as an executive director of special education and student achievement services, as well as assistant superintendent of human resources in several Colorado school districts. Since 2011, she has been an Assistant Professor of Practice with the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at the University of Denver, Morgridge College of Education. Areas of training and expertise include leadership development, educator effectiveness, leadership coaching, employee relations, and school reform and innovation. She has been active in CASE throughout her career and received the Colorado Association of School Personnel Administrators' Sandra Shreve award for excellence in human resource leadership. She's also a past recipient of the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council Daniel B. Davidson Excellence in Inclusion award.

Ellen Miller-Brown, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Practice, University of Denver

Ellen has varied educational experiences. She has been a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, a Director of Middle Schools and of Professional Development, and a Chief Academic Officer. She now serves as a Professor of Practice at the University of Denver. As the former Chief Academic Officer for Boulder Valley School District, she was responsible for overseeing the accomplishment of the district's goals, the development and implementation of curriculum, support for students with diverse needs, and planning and assessment.She has taught at both the elementary and secondary level, but has spent most of her career in administration at the middle school level.

Diana Sirko, Superintendent, Roaring Fork School District

Diana has been an educator for 41 years. She served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent in urban, suburban and rural school districts. She is currently the superintendent of the Roaring Fork School District and immediately prior to that role, was the Deputy Commissioner for the Colorado Department of Education. Diana holds a BA from the University of Northern Colorado, an MA from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, and a PhD in Educational Leadership and Innovation from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Gayle Westerberg, Former Principal and Author: An Educator's Guide to Dual Language Instruction: Increasing Achievement and Global Competence, K-12

Gayle, recognized as a National Distinguished Principal early in her career has served as a teacher, principal, and program director for all levels of instruction, preschool through university. During her career she concentrated on several facets of school reform: full-day kindergarten, integrated literacy instruction, creating a culture that embraces diversity, and closing the achievement gap for second language learners. She sustains her interest for change leadership by mentoring aspiring school leaders, consulting with school teams, volunteering for the International Baccalaureate (IB), and nurturing action in the global community. She is currently an IB Coordinator for Summit School District.

Sammye Wheeler-Clouse, PhD, Educational Consultant

Sammye is an expert in school leadership, school improvement, classroom instruction, curriculum and assessment with a focus on turnaround schools. She has 36 years in education, working directly with school, district, and teacher leaders on improving student achievement through research-based best practices, transitioning to the common core, and applying effective evaluation to meet standards. As an educational consultant, she has supported school and district leaders both nationally and internationally, on implementing systemic initiatives to continuous school improvement. In addition, she specializes in support school leaders to manage the complexity of change with emphasis on building capacity for shared leadership, data use, and implementation. She coaches turnaround school and district leaders on building effectiveness to improve student learning and teacher effectiveness.
