Exploring The Superintendency: Key Elements for Success

This pre-conference workshop is specifically geared toward aspiring superintendents, as well as administrators who are considering whether they have an interest in the superintendency. Participants will gain an understanding about what is necessary to be a successful superintendent, explore their personal fit with the position and learn what life is like as a superintendent.

  • Explore how to make a conscious choice to be a superintendent

Supporting Schools in Trauma, Tragedy or Crisis

 
Who Should Come: Principals and Assistant Principals                                                                                                                                                   

   

 
Join the Colorado Association of Elementary School Principals and the Colorado Association of Secondary School Principals in a half-day workshop focused on helping you ensure that your school is equipped to support students and the community in times of trauma, tragedy or crisis. Participants will have the opportunity to take a deeper dive into one of two different breakout sessions, each with a focus designed specifically for elementary or secondary principals, such as developing strategies to create a trauma-responsive approach or understanding suicide prevention and “postvention” strategies to support communities following student suicides.


HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • Identify Adverse Childhood Experiences and the impact of trauma on children
  • Discover how to support students in a school setting using a trauma-responsive approach
  • Understand the role of schools in supporting student resiliency

Exploring the Human Side of Cybersecurity: A Team Approach to Securing the K-12 Ecosystem 

 
Who Should Come: Technology leaders and school and district leaders

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility—what can students, staff, and IT teams to do secure the online environment? How do you find a balance between focusing on network engineering and user behaviors? Join us for a day of learning as we explore both the technical and human sides of securing the learning environment. Find practical tools and engage in peer-to-peer conversation around empowering teams to reduce risks while positively contributing to teaching and learning. The day will include keynote and breakout sessions devoted to proactively identifying the top cybersecurity threats faced by schools, assessing your district's cybersecurity maturity, engaging your team in making improvements, and understanding the new data breach law.  Sessions will also highlight ways in which security can be brought into the curriculum, including how security can be used to teach digital citizenship to students.
